Del Mar French Drain & Waterproofing
Project Date: 5/1/2026
Water intrusion can cause serious damage when moisture builds around the exterior of a home. For this project, the homeowner was experiencing water entering the house due to wet soil conditions and water seeping underneath the structure. The surrounding ground had become saturated, creating the potential for ongoing water damage inside the home if the issue was not corrected quickly.
We began by clearing the affected area, removing the existing plants, grass, and saturated soil so we could properly access the side of the home. Once the area was open, our team excavated a trench along the exterior wall, applied waterproofing to help protect the building, and installed a French drain system to collect and redirect groundwater away from the structure. We also tied the gutter system into the drainage system to help move roof runoff away from the foundation instead of allowing it to collect near the house.
To further improve drainage and support the surrounding slope, we installed a retaining wall with an additional French drain system behind it. This helped control water coming from the higher ground while creating a cleaner, more finished look for the side yard.
The finished project helped protect the home from future moisture issues while giving the side yard a much cleaner and more polished appearance. The client was very happy with the result, especially with how quickly our team responded and completed the work on time.
Project Highlights:
- Waterproofed the side of the building
- Installed a French drain system connected to the gutters
- Built a retaining wall for improved support and appearance
