We are currently in the midst of a comprehensive mold remediation project resulting from extensive water intrusion throughout the residence, majority caused from leaking windows. One window, in particular, was part of a protruding architectural feature that the homeowner elected to remove, as it no longer aligned with the desired aesthetic of the home. Our restoration team has completed the demolition of the pop-out structure and modified the area to be flush with the exterior wall. The opening is now securely boarded and sealed while we await clearance from post-remediation mold testing. Once testing comes back as passed, we will proceed with the reconstruction phase.

When a homeowner noticed a persistent musty odor inside their accessory dwelling unit (ADU), they reached out to our team for a thorough evaluation. Lingering odors can often indicate hidden moisture or mold issues, so we conducted a detailed inspection to identify the source. Our investigation revealed elevated moisture readings along one exterior wall. To properly assess the extent of the issue, our restoration specialists carefully removed the drywall approximately two feet above the affected area. This allowed us to uncover significant damage within the exterior wall assembly, including wood framing that had deteriorated beyond repair due to prolonged moisture intrusion.
To ensure a long-term solution, we removed all compromised materials and rebuilt the affected section with new structural wood studs. The wall was strategically adjusted to improve clearance along the side of the building, helping reduce the risk of future moisture problems. Any remaining framing was meticulously cleaned and treated to eliminate potential mold occurrences. After completing the repairs, we performed post-remediation testing and confirmed that moisture levels were normalized and no mold remained. The result was a clean, structurally sound ADU and a homeowner with renewed confidence in the safety and comfort of their space.
